The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed running back De’Montre Tuggle and released running back Tayon Fleet-Davis on Wednesday.

De’Montre Tuggle is five foot ten and weighs 198 pounds. The 24-year-old from Channelview, Texas, had 32 carries for 176 yards, one touchdown, and seven catches for 58 yards in four games for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2023.

Before Ottawa, Tuggle was drafted by the Arlington Renegades (XFL) in the second round (10th pick) of the 2022 XFL Draft but was released at the end of training camp. Before Arlington, Tuggle signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent but was released during training camp.

Collegiately, Tuggle played two seasons at Kilgore College (2017-18) with 176 carries for 1,180 yards, nine touchdowns, 20 catches for 375 yards, and six touchdowns in 21 games for the Rangers. He was named Second Team All-Southwest Conference in 2018.

Then, he transferred to Ohio (2019-21) with 287 carries for 1,838 yards, 24 touchdowns, 32 catches for 277 yards, three touchdowns, 28 kick returns for 675 yards, and two touchdowns in 26 games for the Bobcats.

Tayon Fleet-Davis is six foot and weighs 213 pounds. The 24-year-old from Oxon Hill, Maryland, had two carries for three yards in one game for the Ticats in 2023.

Before Hamilton, Fleet-Davis signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. He did not play in the preseason and was released on August 27th, 2022.

Collegiately, Fleet-Davis played five seasons at Maryland (2017-21) with 276 carries for 1,343 yards, 15 touchdowns, 52 catches for 549 yards, four touchdowns, three kick returns for 30 yards, and two tackles in 42 games for the Terrapins.

In his final season, Fleet-Davis led the Terps in rushing with 128 carries for 721 yards, and eight touchdowns, while making 32 catches for 305 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games. He was on the 2021 Doak Walker Award Watch List. In the 2021 New Era Pinstripe Bowl against Virginia Tech, Fleet-Davis had eight carries for 57 yards as the Terrapins beat Virginia Tech 54-10.
