Drew Allar’s four touchdowns lead Penn State to a route over Maryland

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar throws 4 touchdowns against Maryland on Saturday.

The Penn State Nittany Lions (8-1) visited SECU Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Maryland Terrapins (5-4) in their 43rd meeting all-time.

The Nittany Lions were 38-3-1 against Maryland and won the last two meetings. Penn State would continue the winning streak on Saturday in a convincing 51-15 win over Maryland.

Penn State had 404 yards on offense. Quarterback Drew Allar completed 25 of 34 passes (74%) for 240 yards, four touchdowns, and four carries for 39 yards. Running back Kaytron Allen had 14 carries for 91 yards and one touchdown.

Penn State wide receiver Dante Cephas had six catches for 63 yards, and two touchdowns. Penn State’s defense made 50 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, six sacks, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.

Maryland had 234 yards on offense. Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa completed 29 of 39 passes (74%) for 286 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Billy Edwards Jr. had one carry for four yards, and wide receiver Tai Felton made four catches for 75 yards. Maryland’s defense made 66 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and two pass breakups.
