Rutgers stumble in the second half in a loss to Ohio State

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (6-3) hosted the No. 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (9-0) on Saturday afternoon from SHI Stadium. Rutgers led 9-7 at halftime but Ohio State pulled away in the second half to beat the Scarlet Knights 35-16.

Rutgers had 361 yards on offense. Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt completed 10 of 25 passes (40%) for 129 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and 13 carries for 49 yards. Running back Kyle Monangai had 24 carries for 159 yards.

Rutgers wide receiver JaQuae Jackson made three catches for 41 yards, and one touchdown. Rutgers’s defense made 61 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, three pass breakups, and one interception.

Ohio State had 328 yards on offense. Quarterback Kyle McCord completed 19 of 26 passes (73.1%) for 189 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Running back TreVeyon Henderson had 22 carries for 128 yards, one touchdown, and five catches for 80 yards.

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. made four catches for 25 yards and two touchdowns. Ohio State’s defense made 81 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, four pass breakups, and one interception.
