The Birmingham Stallions re-signed defensive back Lorenzo Burns for the 2024 season on Monday.
Lorenzo Burns is five foot eleven and weighs 183 pounds. The 26-year-old from Murrieta, California, made 26 tackles (16 solo, 10 assists), two forced fumbles, and four pass breakups in nine games for the Stallions in 2023.
In the playoffs, Burns made 10 tackles (8 solo, 2 assists), two tackles for loss, and two pass breakups in two games helping the Stallions win their second straight USFL championship over the Pittsburgh Maulers.
After the season, the Stallions released Burns to sign with the Cleveland Browns. Burns made 11 tackles (6 solo, 5 assists) in three preseason games.
The Stallions drafted Burns in the 11th round (86th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. Burns made nine tackles (7 solo, 2 assists), two interceptions for 26 yards, one fumble recovery, and three pass breakups in eight games for the Stallions in 2022.
In the playoffs, Burns played two games as the Stallions won the USFL Championship over the Philadelphia Stars. Before Birmingham, Burns signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Collegiately, Burns played four seasons at Arizona (2016-20) with 192 tackles (142 solo, 50 assists), 8 tackles for loss, two sacks, 9 interceptions for 87 yards, 35 pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 42 games for the Wildcats. Burns was a two-time Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mention and was named Defensive MVP in 2019.
