The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Tuesday that goaltender Cal Peterson and defenseman Victor Mete have been loaned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Cal Peterson is six foot two and weighs 188 pounds. The 29-year-old from Waterloo, Iowa, is 1-0, with a 3.50 GAA, and a .896 SV% in two games for the Flyers this year. In Lehigh Valley, Peterson is 1-3, with a 3.76 GAA, and a .884 SV% this season.

The Flyers acquired Peterson in a three-team trade with the Los Angeles Kings that sent defenseman Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets on June 6, 2023.

Peterson played 40 games for the Ontario Reign with a 16-20-4 record, 2.88 GAA, .904 SV%, and two shutouts. In the playoffs, Peterson went 0-2 with a 3.90 GAA and a .826 SV%. The Buffalo Sabres drafted Peterson in the fifth round (129th pick) in the 2013 NHL Draft. He also played ten games for the Kings in the 2022-23 season with a 5-3-2 record, 3.75 GAA, and a .868 SV%.

Peterson played three seasons for the Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL) with a 48-19-1 record, a 2.74 GAA, a .910 SV%, and five shutouts in 78 games. In the playoffs, he went 10-6 with a 2.78 GAA and a .917 SV% in 16 games.

Then, he played three seasons at the University of Notre Dame (2014-16) with a 55-39-15 record, a 2.30 GAA, and a .924 SV% in 110 games for the Fighting Irish.

Peterson played four seasons in the AHL with a 69-68-17 record, a 3.20 GAA, a .904 SV%, and nine shutouts in 156 games. In the playoffs, he is 1-5, with a 2.85 GAA, and a .891 SVG%. In the NHL, Peterson played six seasons with a record of 44-42-10, a 2.92 GAA, a .905 SV%, and four shutouts in 101 games. In the playoffs, Peterson is 0-0 with a 7.50 GAA and a .800 SV% in one game.

Victor Mete is five foot nine and weighs 183 pounds. The 25-year-old from Woodbridge, Ontario, played one game for the Flyers this year.

Before the call-up, Mete had one point (1 assist) in five games for the Phantoms this season. Last season, he played six games for the Toronto Marlies with 14 penalty minutes and recorded two assists with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 11 games last year.

The Montreal Canadiens drafted Mete in the fourth round (100th pick) in the 2016 NHL Draft. Mete played four seasons in Montreal with 34 points (4 goals, 30 assists), and 36 penalty minutes in 185 games. Then, the Canadiens released him, and was claimed off waivers by the Ottawa Senators on April 12, 2021. He collected nine points (1 goal, 8 assists), and six penalty minutes in 51 games. Mete signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent on July 14, 2022.

In the AHL, Mete played two seasons with the Laval Rocket and Toronto Marlies collecting four points (1 goal, 3 assists), and 14 penalty minutes in 13 games.

Before the NHL, Mete played three seasons with the London Knights (OHL) earning 105 points (30 goals, 75 assists), and 46 penalty minutes in 176 games. In addition, he earned 26 points (6 goals, 20 assists), and six penalty minutes in 42 playoff games.

He is a member of the 2015-16 London Knights OHL championship team. Mete was named OHL Second All-Rookie Team (2015) and won the OHL Cup Silver Medal in 2014.
