The Temple Owls (3-8) visited Protective Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers (4-7) in their first-ever matchup. The Owls lost to UAB by the final score of 34-24.
Temple had 378 yards on offense. Quarterback E.J. Warner completed 25 of 46 passes (54%) for 323 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Edward Saydee had nine carries for 37 yards.
Temple wide receiver Dante Wright and tight end David Martin-Robinson combined with nine catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Temple’s defense made 74 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and three pass breakups.
UAB had 505 yards on offense. Quarterback Jacob Zeno completed 20 of 28 passes (71.4%) for 246 yards, one touchdown, and nine carries for 23 yards.
Running back Jermaine Brown Jr. had 20 carries for 153 yards, and one touchdown, wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer made eight catches for 125 yards and one touchdown. UAB’s defense made 65 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, and nine pass breakups.
