The Calgary Stampeders signed fullback Sebastian Howard, offensive linemen Rodeem Brown and Alexandre Marcoux, defensive linemen Kwadwo Boahen and Ryan Leder, and kicker Campbell Fair. In addition, the Stampeders released linebacker Adarius Taylor.
Sebastian Howard is six foot six and weighs 230 pounds. The 25-year-old from Nanaimo, British Columbia, was drafted by the Stampeders in the sixth round (49th pick) in the 2023 CFL Draft.
Howard played two seasons at St. Mary’s University (2021-23) with 10 catches for 84 yards, and one carry for two yards in 18 games for the Huskies. Before St. Mary’s, Howard played one season for the Langley Rams (CJFL) with three catches for 42 yards and one touchdown in three games.
Rodeem Brown is six foot two and weighs 299 pounds. The 23-year-old from Halifax, Nova Scotia, was released by the Montreal Alouettes on June 4th and later joined Calgary’s practice squad. The Alouettes drafted Brown in the second round (18th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft and attended training camp for the past two seasons.
Collegiately, Brown played 32 games in four seasons at the University of Alberta (2018-19, 2021-22) playing guard and center. In 2021, he earned Canada West and USports All-Star honors for the Golden Bears as they averaged 27 points per game, 1,049 yards rushing (131.1 Avg. Per Game), 1,899 yards passing (237.38 Average Per Game), and 23 touchdowns.
In 2022, the Golden Bears averaged 21.88 points per game, 928 rushing yards (116 Avg. Per Game), 2,367 passing yards (295.88 Avg. Per Game), and 20 touchdowns.
Alexandre Marcoux is six foot two and weighs 295 pounds. The 25-year-old from Levis, Quebec, played 36 games in five seasons at McGill University (2018-19, 2021-23) playing left guard for the Redbirds. The Stampeders drafted Marcoux in the fourth round (33rd pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2022, the Redbirds averaged 254.38 yards passing, 146.1 yards per game, and 368.3 average yards per game.
Kwadwo Boahen is six foot two and weighs 285 pounds. The 23-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, was drafted by the Stampeders in the third round (22nd pick) in the 2023 CFL Draft. The Stampeders released him on June 10, 2023.
Before Calgary, Boahen played one season at the University of Alberta in 2022 with 21 tackles (13 solo, 8 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup in seven games for the Golden Bears.
Before Alberta, Boahen played three seasons at York University (2018-19, 2021) with 55 tackles (38 solo, 36 assists), nine tackles for loss, and five sacks in 22 games for the Lions. In his final season at York, Boahen made 22 tackles (16 solo, 13 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in six games.
Ryan Leder is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 23-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, spent the 2023 season on Calgary’s practice squad. Before Calgary, Leder made 28 tackles (20 solo, 8 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in nine games for the Marauders.
Leder played four seasons at McMaster University (2018-19, 2021-22) with 86 tackles (46 solo, 40 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three pass breakups, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 31 games.
Campbell Fair is six foot one and weighs 180 pounds. The 23-year-old from Carrying Place, Ontario, was drafted by the Stampeders in the sixth round (51st pick) in the 2023 CFL Draft. He had a brief stint in Calgary before joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders practice squad before returning to the University of Ottawa.
Campbell Fair played five seasons at the University of Ottawa (2018-23) converting 62 of 88 field goals (70%) with a long of 55 yards, making 80 of 83 extra points (266 points), 153 punts for 6,017 yards with a long of 68 yards, and 22 punts from inside the 20-yard line. He was named OUA Second Team All-Star and the Chris Evraire Award for Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2022.
Adarius Taylor is five foot eleven and weighs 233 pounds. The 33-year-old from Bartow, Florida, was on Calgary’s practice squad in 2023.
Before Calgary, Taylor played 88 games in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Cleveland Browns with 145 tackles (97 solo, 48 assists), two sacks, one interception for seven yards, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown. The Panthers signed Taylor as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
Collegiately, Taylor played two seasons at Eastern Arizona College (2010-11) with 85 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles for the Gila Monsters. He was named first-team All-Conference and All-Region as a sophomore. Then, he transferred to Florida Atlantic (2012-13) with 149 tackles (80 solo, 69 assists), 3.5 sacks, two interceptions for 44 yards, one touchdown, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 24 games, of which 11 were starts for the Owls.
