The Philadelphia Stars re-signed offensive lineman C.J. Perez for the 2024 season on Wednesday.
C.J. Perez is six foot one and weighs 293 pounds. The 28-year-old from Overland Park, Kansas, played ten games at the center position for the Stars in 2023.
The Stars’ offense ranked third in passing (213.3 yards per game), finished last in rushing (77 yards per game), 20 touchdowns, and allowed a league-high 29 sacks. The Stars signed Perez as a free agent on June 2, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Perez played two seasons at Butler Community College (2015-16) playing six games for the Grizzlies. In his sophomore year, Perez helped the Grizzlies to an 8-3 record and ended the season as conference runners-up. He was named First Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and All-American in 2017.
Next, Perez transferred to Northern Illinois (2018-19) playing 20 games at left guard. In 2018, the Huskies running backs notched six 100-yard rushing games and were ranked in the top half of the MAC in rushing offense (166.9 yards/game), first downs (270), and red zone offense (82.1 %). Then, Perez transferred to Temple (2020-21) and played 18 games playing center.
