This was the ninth all-time meeting between these teams dating back to 2013. The Owls were looking to avenge last year’s loss but the Tigers got the better hand and the Owls lost 45-21 to finish the season on a three-game losing streak.
Temple had 465 yards on offense. Quarterback E.J. Warner completed 27 of 48 passes (56%) for 330 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, and one carry for -7 yards. Running back Darvon Hubbard had 10 carries for 95 yards, 1 touchdown, and 3 catches for 20 yards.
Temple wide receiver Amad Anderson Jr. made 7 catches for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns. Temple’s defense made 57 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and one pass breakup.
Memphis had 440 yards on offense. Quarterback Seth Henigan completed 18 of 28 passes (64.3%) for 250 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception, and 2 carries for 5 yards. Running backs Blake Watson and Brandon Thomas combined with 24 carries logging 171 yards, 2 touchdowns, 4 catches for 39 yards, and 1 touchdown.
Memphis wide receiver Joseph Scates, running back Sutton Smith, and tight end Brendan Doyle combined with 9 catches logging 113 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Memphis’s defense made 67 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and seven pass breakups.
