Penn State shuts out Michigan State to close out the season

The Penn State Nittany Lions (10-2, 7-2) concluded the 2023 season on Friday night from Ford Field against the Michigan State Spartans (4-8, 2-7) in their 37th all-time meeting dating back to 1914. The Nittany Lions had won three of four games against Michigan State and would add another win to the column with a 42-0 win.

Penn State had 586 yards on offense. Quarterback Drew Allar completed 17 of 26 passes (65.4%) for 292 yards, and two touchdowns. Backup quarterback Beau Pribula completed 2 of 2 passes (100%) for 11 yards, and one touchdown.

Penn State running backs Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen combined with 33 carries logging 255 yards, one touchdown, five catches for 85 yards, and one touchdown.

Penn State tight ends Theo Johnson and Tyler Warren with six catches logging 81 yards, and two touchdowns. Penn State’s defense made 47 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one interception, and two pass breakups.

Michigan State had 53 yards on offense. Quarterback Katin Houser completed 11 of 19 passes (58%) for 87 yards, one interception, and seven carries for -41 yards. Running back Nathan Carter had eight carries for 39 yards.

Michigan State wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. made two catches for 35 yards. Michigan State’s defense made 85 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and two pass breakups.

Penn State has qualified for the bowl game and will wait to see where they are headed. The selection show will be on Sunday, December 3rd, at noon on ESPN.
