B.C. Lions sign three players including linebacker Markcus Jean-Loescher

The B.C. Lions signed linebacker Markcus Jean-Loescher along with defensive backs Jassin States-McClean and Charlie Ringland on Tuesday.

Markcus Jean-Loescher is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. The 24-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, attended training camp for the Lions in 2023 before returning to St. Mary’s. The Lions drafted Jean-Loescher in the fourth round (34th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Jean-Loescher played four seasons at St. Mary’s University (2019, 2021-23) with 68 tackles (57 solo, 22 assists), six tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups in 18 games for the Huskies.

Jassin States-McClean is six foot two and weighs 180 pounds. The 23-year-old from Halifax, Nova Scotia, attended the Lions training camp in 2023 before returning to St. Mary’s University. The Lions drafted States-McClean in the sixth round (52nd pick) in the 2023 Draft.

Collegiately, he played five seasons at St. Mary’s University (2019-23) with 60.5 tackles (48 solo, 25 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions, and 10 pass breakups in 26 games for the Huskies. States-McClean played in the 2022 East-West Bowl and was named U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian in 2023.

Charlie Ringland is six foot one and weighs 198 pounds. The 23-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, missed the entire 2023 season after tearing his ACL during the CFL Combine. The Lions drafted Ringland in the fifth round (43rd pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Ringland played four seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2018-22) with 97 tackles (86 solo, 25 assists), 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 4 interceptions for 9 yards, 15 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery in 38 games for the Huskies. In the 2022 Hardy Cup, Ringland made three interceptions in a win over Manitoba. In addition, he was named a Canada West All-Star in 2022.
