Temple quarterback E.J. Warner is entering the Transfer Portal

Quarterback E.J. Warner played two seasons with the Temple Owls from 2022 to 2023.

Temple Owls quarterback E.J. Warner announced on Tuesday that he is entering the transfer portal. The 20-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona, released a statement on his X (Twitter) account.

“Today is both a tough day and an exciting one as I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal and explore the possibilities for my football future,” said Warner. “I am forever grateful to Temple University, Coach Drayton, and Coach Langsdorf for the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing college football.”

Warner began as a backup to D’Wan Mathis. He made his Temple debut on September 10, 2022, against Lafayette completing 14 of 19 passes (74%) for 173 yards, and 2 touchdowns in a 30-14 win.

In his two seasons at Temple (2022-23), Warner completed 524 of 888 passes (59%) for 6,104 yards, 41 touchdowns, 24 interceptions, 40 carries for -43 yards, and 1 punt for 27 yards in 21 games for the Owls. Warner was named the AAC Rookie of the Year in 2022.
