The Birmingham Stallions brought back wide receiver Deon Cain and signed defensive back Kenny Robinson on Thursday.
Deion Cain is six foot two and weighs 202 pounds. The 27-year-old from Tampa, Florida, made 16 catches for 182 yards, and two touchdowns in eight games, of which five were starts for the Stallions.
In the 2023 USFL Championship Game against the Pittsburgh Maulers, Cain caught four passes for 70 yards, and three touchdowns to help the Stallions win their second straight championship 28-12. He was named the USFL Championship Game MVP. After the season, Cain signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played two preseason games with six catches for 62 yards.
Before Birmingham, Cain was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round (185th pick) in the 2018 NFL Draft. He tore his ACL during training camp in his rookie year. He made his NFL debut in 2019 with four catches for 52 yards in seven games, of which three were starts for the Colts. After the Colts released him on November 9, 2019, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cain played six games, of which three were starts for the Steelers with five catches for 72 yards. The Steelers released Cain in 2021. Cain would later spend time with the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tennessee Titans.
Collegiately, Cain played three seasons at Clemson (2015-17) with 130 catches for 2,040 yards and 20 touchdowns in 42 games for the Tigers. He tied for fourth in Clemson history in receiving touchdowns and was named Third Team All-ACC in 2017.
Kenny Robinson is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. The 24-year-old from Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, made 13 tackles (10 solo, 3 assists) in three preseason games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023.
Before Pittsburgh, Robinson was drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks (XFL) in 2020. Robinson made 23 tackles (17 solo, 6 assists) and two interceptions for 11 yards in five games before the XFL ceased operations due to COVID-19.
After the season, the Carolina Panthers drafted Robinson in the fifth round (152nd pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Robinson played two seasons in Carolina with 18 tackles (12 solo, 6 assists), and one blocked punt recovery in 19 games.
Collegiately, Robinson played two seasons at West Virginia (2017-18) with 123 tackles (84 solo, 39 assists), 4 tackles for loss, 7 interceptions for 228 yards, 2 touchdowns, 7 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 23 games for the Mountaineers. He was named First Team All-Big 12 in 2018.
