Tag Bertuzzi scores two goals in a Royals loss to Kalamazoo

Reading's Tag Bertuzzi scored two goals against Kalamazoo on Thursday night.

The Reading Royals (4-10-1-1) started a two-game homestand on Thursday night from the Santander Arena against the Kalamazoo Wings (7-9).

At 10:26 of the first period, Reading’s Tag Bertuzzi put the Royals up 1-0 with assists by Koletrane Wilson and Matt Brown. Thirty seconds later, Kalamazoo’s David Keefer tied the game 1-1 with assists by Connor Walters and Collin Adams.

At 17:10, Reading’s Brendan Hoffmann put the Royals back up 2-1 with assists from Austin Master and Mike Chen. Hoffmann scored the 5,000th goal in franchise history. The Royals had eight shots on goal and led 2-1 after one period of play.

At 5:44 of the second period, Kalamazoo’s Josh Passolt tied the game 2-2 with an assist by David Keefer. Later in the second period, Josh Passolt scored his second goal of the night putting the Wings up 3-2 at 11:57 with an assist by Collin Adams.

At 14:06, Reading’s Tag Bertuzzi scored his second goal of the night tying the game 3-3 with assists from Matt Brown and Joseph Nardi. The Royals had 17 shots on goal but the game remained tied 3-3 after two periods of play.

A minutes and nineteen seconds into the third period, Kalamazoo’s Erik Bradford put the Wings back up 4-3 with assists from Brad Morrison and Ty Glover. The Royals had eight shots on goal but lost to the Wings by the final score of 4-3.

The Royals finished the night with 33 shots, committed two penalties for six minutes, went 0 for 2 on the power play, and Parker Gahagen made 24 saves off 28 shots.
