Delaware season ends in Montana

Delaware played Montana in the second round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday night.

The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens (9-3) visited Washington-Grizzly Stadium in snowy conditions on Saturday night against the No.2 ranked Montana Grizzlies (10-1) in the second round of the FCS Playoffs.

Delaware could not stop the Grizzlies and their season would come to an end with a 49-19 loss. Delaware had 347 yards on offense. Quarterback Ryan O’Connor completed 17 of 36 passes (47%) for 197 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, 4 carries for 9 yards, and 1 touchdown.

Delaware running back Marcus Yarns had 8 carries for 68 yards, and wide receiver Chandler Harvin made 4 catches for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns. Delaware’s defense made 60 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 1 interception.

Montana had 389 yards on offense. Quarterback Clifton McDowell completed 10 of 19 passes (53%) for 186 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, 5 carries for 51 yards, and 1 touchdown. Running back Nick Ostmo had 10 carries for 64 yards and 1 touchdown.

Montana wide receiver Keelan White and tight end Evan Shafer combined with 5 catches logging 113 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Montana’s defense made 65 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery.
