The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed defensive back Stavros Katsantonis to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Monday.
Stavros Katsantonis is five foot ten and weighs 188 pounds. The 27-year-old from Bakersfield, California, made 54 tackles, 2 tackles on special teams, 2 sacks, 5 interceptions, 1 touchdown, and 2 forced fumbles in 18 games for the Ticats in 2023.
The Ticats drafted Katsantonis in the fourth round (36th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In three seasons in Hamilton, Katsantonis has 74 tackles, 26 special teams tackles, 2 sacks, 1 touchdown, and 2 forced fumbles in 50 games.
Collegiately, Katsantonis played four seasons the University of British Columbia (2015-18) with 205 tackles (123 solo, 82 assists), 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 18 interceptions for 212 yards, 1 touchdown, 34 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, 3 kick returns for 88 yards, 20 punt returns for 199 yards, and 5 punts for 159 yards in 43 games for the Thunderbirds.
He was a three-time First Team All-Canadian (2016-18), a Vanier Cup champion in 2015, and the winner of the Bruce Coulter Award in 2015.
