The B.C. Lions re-signed linebacker Maxime Rouyer to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Thursday.

Maxime Rouyer is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 29-year-old from Troyes, France, made one tackle and six tackles on special teams in 12 games for the Lions in 2023. The Lions signed Rouyer as a free agent on September 14, 2022. He had one forced fumble in seven games for the Lions in 2022.

The Edmonton Eskimos drafted Rouyer in the first round (4th pick) of the 2019 CFL European Draft. Rouyer played two seasons in Edmonton with four tackles on special teams in 18 games.

After Edmonton, Rouyer signed with the Wroclaw Panthers (ELF) in 2022 with 89 tackles (33 solo, 56 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one touchdown, and one pass breakup in 12 games.

Collegiately, Rouyer played four seasons at McGill University (2015-18) with 107 tackles (63 solo, 44 assists), six tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two pass breakups in 23 games for the Redbirds.
