Reading ends two-game skid against Trois-Rivières

Reading's Shane Sellar scored two goals against the Lions on Saturday night.

The Reading Royals (6-12-1-1) continued their three-game homestand on Saturday night in a rematch with the Trois-Rivières Lions (13-9).

Three minutes and six seconds into the first period, Reading’s Shane Sellar put the Royals up 1-0 with assists from Devon Paliani and Austin Master. The Royals had 11 shots on goal and led 1-0 after one period of play.

At 6:15 of the second period, Reading’s Mason McCarty extended the Royals lead to 2-0 with assists from Ryan Chyzowski and Nicolas Ouellet. Next, at 11:32, Reading’s Brayden Guy made it 3-0 Royals with an assist by Darren Brady.

At 15:31, Reading’s Devon Paliani scored a power play goal which made it 4-0 with assists by Ryan Chyzowski and Adam Brubacher. A minute and forty-four seconds later, Reading’s Shane Sellar scored his second goal of the game on the power play that made it 5-0 with assists by Darren Brady and Brendan Hoffmann. The Royals had 11 shots on goal and led 4-0 after two periods of play.

A minute and thirty-eight seconds into the third period, Trois-Rivières’s Maxim Trépanier scored ending Reading’s bid for a shutout which made it 5-1 with assists from Noah Laaouan and Alex-Olivier Voyer. The Royals had six shots on goal and defeated the Lions by the final score of 5-1.

The Royals had 28 shots on goal, committed two penalties for 20 minutes, went 0 for 2 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 22 saves off 23 shots.
