Edmonton Elks offensive lineman Samuel Thomassin announces retirement

On Monday, Edmonton Elks offensive lineman Samuel Thomassin announced his retirement after three seasons in the CFL.

Samuel Thomassin is six foot six and weighs 330 pounds. The 28-year-old from Quebec was on missed the majority of the season on the six-game injured list. In 2022, he was on the Alouettes practice squad before being released on August 29, 2022, and later signed with the Elks spending the last two months on the practice squad. Montreal drafted Thomassin in the second round (19th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft out of Laval. Thomassin played two games last season.

Collegiately, Thomassin played five seasons at the University of Laval (2015-19), where he is a three-time First-Team All-Canadian honors and two-time First Team U Sports All-Canadian.
