The Montreal Alouettes re-signed defensive lineman Mustafa Johnson to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Monday.
Mustafa Johnson is six foot two and weighs 290 pounds. The 24-year-old from Aurora, Colorado, made 43 tackles, seven sacks, and one touchdown in 18 games for the Alouettes in 2023 helping them win the Grey Cup, and was named a CFL East All-Star. The Alouettes signed Johnson as a free agent on July 31, 2022. In 2022, Johnson made 18 tackles and two sacks.
Collegiately, Johnson played one season at Modesto Community College in 2017 with 58 tackles (35 solo, 23 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 11 games for the Pirates. He was named First Team All-California Community College Region I in 2017.
Then, Johnson transferred to Colorado (2018-21) with 121 tackles (65 solo, 56 assists), 31 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 35 games for the Buffaloes. He was a two-time All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention.
