The Ottawa Redblacks re-signed punter Richie Leone to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Monday.

Richie Leone is six foot four and weighs 216 pounds. The 31-year-old from Roswell, Georgia, made 117 punts for 4,399 yards (47.6 AVG) with a long of 74 yards in 18 games for the Redblacks in 2023. He was named a CFL All-Star and CFL East All-Star.

The Redblacks signed Leone as a free agent on January 26, 2021. In five seasons, Leone has punted the ball 688 times for 26,446 yards (47.4 AVG) in 104 games for the Redblacks.

Before Ottawa, Leone played two seasons with the BC Lions (2015-16) with 216 punts for 8,449 yards in 35 games. Leone is a four-time CFL East All-Star (2018-19, 2021, 2023), a two-time CFL West All-Star (2015-16), and a five-time CFL All-Star (2015-16, 2019, 2021, 2023).

Leone signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2014. In addition, Leone had short stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Arizona Cardinals twice in 2017 and 2020.

Collegiately, Leone played four seasons at the University of Houston (2010-13) with 219 punts for 9,430 yards (43.1 AVG), 18 touchbacks, 87 fair catches, 79 from inside the 20-yard line, 54 for 50-plus yards, and one punt block. He was named to the FWAA Second Team All-American in 2013.
