The Calgary Stampeders re-signed defensive back Malcolm Thompson on Friday.
Malcolm Thompson is five foot eleven and weighs 200 pounds. The 28-year-old from Windsor, Ontario, made one tackle and one tackle on special teams in four games for the Stampeders in 2023. Before Calgary, Thompson made 23 tackles, five tackles on special teams, and one fumble recovery in ten games for the Blue Bombers in 2022.
The Calgary Stampeders signed Thompson as an undrafted free agent in 2019. In 2021, he attended training camp for the Stampeders but was released and later signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Thompson played two games making one tackle on special teams against the B.C. Lions.
Thompson played three seasons at Wilfrid Laurier (2016, 2018-19) with 81 tackles (67 solo, 30 assists), seven tackles for loss, two sacks, seven interceptions for 268 yards, two touchdowns, 16 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, nine punt returns for 56 yards, and one kick return for 27 yards in 24 games for the Golden Hawks.
Thompson helped Wilfrid win the 2016 Men’s Football OUA Champions. He is a two-time OUA Men’s Football Second Team All-Star and an OUA Men’s Football First Team All-Star in 2016.
