The Edmonton Elks signed defensive lineman Romero McKnight on Friday.

Romeo McKnight is six foot four and weighs 261 yards. The 25-year-old from Crystal Lake, Illinois, made two tackles in one preseason game for the Stampeders in 2023. The Stampeders signed McKnight as a free agent on May 31, 2022. He played four games with seven tackles and one sack.

Before Calgary, McKnight signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2021. Then, he signed with the B.C. Lions in 2022 before he was released on May 30, 2022, before signing with the Stampeders a day later.

Collegiately, McKnight spent two seasons at Iowa (2016-17) but did not see any action for the Hawkeyes. Next, McKnight transferred to Illinois State (2018-19) with 111 tackles (60 solo, 51 assists), 25.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, five pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 26 games for the Redbirds. He was named First Team All-MVFC.

Next, McKnight transferred to Charlotte in 2020 with 24 tackles (13 solo, 11 assists), five tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 13 games for the 49ers.
