The Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed linebacker Tanner Cadwallader to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Wednesday.
Tanner Cadwallader is five foot eleven and weighs 214 pounds. The 26-year-old from Georgetown, Ontario, made two tackles and 16 tackles on special teams in 18 games for the Blue Bombers in 2023.
The Blue Bombers drafted Cadwallader in the seventh round (64th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In three seasons in Winnipeg, Cadwallader has four tackles and 38 tackles on special teams, and one forced fumble in 50 games. Cadwallader has been to three Grey Cup championship games, winning one in 2021.
Before Winnipeg, Cadwallader played for the Bologna Warriors (IFL) in 2019 and the London Beefeaters (CJFL) in 2019 with 24 tackles (22 solo, 2 assists), two tackles on special teams, two sacks, three interceptions, and one touchdown in eight games for the Beefeaters.
Collegiately, Cadwallader attended the University of Western Ontario in 2015 as a wide receiver but recorded no stats. Then, he transferred to Wilfrid Laurier University (2016-18) with 16 tackles (14 solo, 7 assists) and one tackle for loss in 18 games for the Golden Hawks. He is a member of the 2016 Yates Cup championship team and was named a two-time Glenn Caroll Team of the Year.
