The Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed defensive back Deatrick Nichols to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Thursday. In addition, the Blue Bombers signed defensive back Anthony Blue.

Deatrick Nichols is five foot nine and weighs 180 pounds. The 29-year-old from Miami, Florida, made 37 tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Blue Bombers in 2023. The Blue Bombers signed Nichols as a free agent on February 5, 2021.

In three seasons, Nichols has 126 tackles, four tackles on special teams, one sack, four interceptions, and one forced fumble in 47 games. Nichols is a two-time CFL West All-Star (2021-22), a two-time CFL All-Star (2021-22), and a Grey Cup champion in 2021.

Before Winnipeg, Nichols signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played two games for the Cardinals in 2018 with one tackle (1 solo). He would later have stints with the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins.

In 2020, Nichols played for the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) with 25 tackles (17 solo, 8 assists), one sack, and three interceptions for 35 yards in five games.

Collegiately, Nichols played four seasons at South Florida (2014-17) with 175 tackles (136 solo, 39 assists), 14.5 tackles for loss, one sack, 11 interceptions, 35 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 50 games for the Bulls. He was a two-time First Team All-AAC (2015, 2017), and a Second Team All-AAC in 2016.

Anthony Blue is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 25-year-old from Newton, South Carolina, appeared in two games for the New Jersey Generals (USFL) in 2023. The Generals signed Blue as a free agent on October 9, 2022.

Collegiately, Blue played four seasons at Newberry College (2018-21) with 180 tackles (122 solo, 58 assists), ten tackles for loss, two sacks, nine interceptions for 111 yards, one touchdown, 41 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 39 games for the Wolves.
