The Montreal Alouettes re-signed linebacker Tyrice Beverette to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Friday.
Tyrice Beverette is six foot and weighs 203 pounds. The 28-year-old from Lakewood, New Jersey, made 89 tackles, 20 tackles of special teams, seven sacks, and two touchdowns in 18 games for the Alouettes in 2023 helping them to win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Alouettes signed Beverette as a free agent on February 8, 2022. In 2022, Beverette made 56 tackles, 21 tackles on special teams, one interception, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Alouettes in 2022.
Before Montreal, Beverette signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Then, Beverette signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2019. He made nine tackles and 19 tackles on special teams in 13 games for the Ticats. In 2021, Beverette made seven tackles, eight tackles on special teams, and one sack in nine games. He helped the Ticats reach two Grey Cup appearances both against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Collegiately, Beverette played four seasons at Stony Brook (2014-17) with 262 tackles (161 solo, 101 assists), 27.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, five interceptions for 65 yards, 17 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 44 games for the Seawolves. In 2015, he was named Third Team All-CAA Football, and in 2016 was named Second Team All-CAA Football.
