The Birmingham Stallions signed quarterback Adrian Martinez, offensive lineman Alex Taylor, and defensive end Jaylen Twyman for the 2024 season on Sunday.
Adrian Martinez is six foot one and weighs 221 pounds. The 23-year-old from Fresno, California, completed 9 of 18 passes (50%) for 76 yards, ten carries for 24 yards, and one touchdown in two preseason games for the Detroit Lions in 2023. The Lions signed Martinez as an undrafted free agent in 2023. The New Jersey Generals drafted Martinez in the second round (15th pick) of the 2023 USFL Collegiate Draft.
Collegiately, Martinez played four seasons at Nebraska (2018-21) completing 670 of 1,055 passes (63.5%) for 8,491 yards, 45 touchdowns, 30 interceptions, 508 carries for 2,301 yards, and 35 touchdowns in 39 games for the Cornhuskers. He was a three-time Team Captain, and an All-Big 10 Honorable Mention in 2018 by the coaches and media, and in 2021 by the coaches.
Then, he transferred to Kansas State in 2022 completing 12 of 19 passes (63%) for 116 yards, one touchdown, 14 carries for 183 yards, and three touchdowns in two games for the Wildcats.
Alex Taylor is six foot eight and weighs 301 pounds. The 26-year-old from Moncks Corner, South Carolina, played three preseason games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2023.
Before Dallas, the Cleveland Browns signed Taylor as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Taylor also had stints with the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns for the second time, and the Dallas Cowboys. He has played five career NFL games.
Collegiately, Taylor played two seasons at Appalachian State (2015-16) playing four games at right tackle. Then, he transferred to South Carolina State (2018-19) playing 19 games for the Bulldogs. In 2019, the Bulldogs had 1,567 rushing yards (142.5 APG), 16 touchdowns, 2,483 passing yards (225.7 APG), and 22 touchdowns in 11 games.
Jaylen Twyman is six foot two and weighs 285 pounds. The 24-year-old from Washington, D.C., made five tackles (2 solo, 3 assists) and 1.5 sacks in three preseason games for the Miami Dolphins in 2023. The Minnesota Vikings drafted Twyman in the sixth round (199th pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Collegiately, Twyman played four seasons at Pittsburgh (2017-20) with 57 tackles (29 solo, 28 assists), 13.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and two pass breakups in 26 games for the Panthers.
