The Ottawa Redblacks signed wide receiver Kris Thornton on Saturday.

Kris Thornton is five foot eight and weighs 168 pounds. The 25-year-old from Manassas, Virginia, attended a rookie minicamp with the Cleveland Browns in 2023.

Collegiately, Thornton played two seasons at Virginia Military Institute (2017-18) with 112 catches for 1,255 yards, six touchdowns, and 17 carries for 35 yards in 21 games for the Keydets. He was named SoCon All-Freshman Team in 2017.

Then, Thornton transferred to James Madison University (2020-22) with 168 catches for 2,540 yards, 23 touchdowns, 12 carries for 78 yards, one touchdown, and four kick returns for 51 yards in 33 games for the Dukes. He was a two-time First Team All-CAA and First Team All-Sun Belt.

In his JMU career, Thornton ranks second in receiving touchdowns (23), third in career receptions (168), and fourth in career receiving yards (2,540).
