The B.C. Lions re-signed defensive lineman Sione Teuhema to a two-contract extension through the 2025 season on Tuesday.
Sione Teuhema is six foot four and weighs 249 pounds. The 28-year-old from Keller, Texas, made 37 tackles, seven sacks, and two fumble recoveries in 17 games for the Lions in 2023.
In the Western Final against Winnipeg, Teuhema made two tackles and one sack. The Lions signed Teuhema as a free agent on December 14, 2021. In 2022, Teuhema made 23 tackles and eight sacks in 14 games.
Before B.C., Teuhema attended rookie minicamps with the Chicago Bears and New York Jets in 2018. Next, he played for the Arizona Hotshots (AAF) in 2019 with 19 tackles (12 solo, 7 assists), one sack, and one forced fumble in eight games.
After the league folded, Teuhema signed with the Carolina Panthers and was placed on the practice squad. In 2021, Teuhema played for the Frisco Fighters (IFL) with nine tackles (7 solo, 3 assists), three tackles for loss, and one sack in three games.
Collegiately, Teuhema played two seasons at LSU (2015-16) with 20 tackles (10 solo, 10 assists), four tackles for loss, and two sacks in 16 games for the Tigers.
Then, Teuhema transferred to Southeastern Louisiana (2016-17) with 109 tackles (75 solo, 34 assists), 26.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, one interception for 17 yards, three pass breakup, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 19 games for the Lions. He was named Second Team All-Southland Conference in 2016.
