On Friday, the UFL held a disposal draft for active teams to draft players from teams that did not make it in the merger between the XFL and USFL. Unfortunately, the Generals did not make it and will not play in the UFL in 2024. The following players were selected on Friday.

Calvin Ashley- Birmingham Stallions

Calvin Ashley is six foot six and weighs 310 pounds. The 25-year-old from Orlando, Florida, played nine games at right guard for the Generals in 2023. He was named to the All-USFL Team. The Generals drafted him in the sixth round (45th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. He played three games for the Generals in 2022.

Collegiately, Ashley played five games in two seasons at Auburn University (2017-18) and one season at Florida A&M in 2019 playing seven games for the Rattlers.

D.J. Daniel- Memphis Showboats

D.J. Daniel is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 25-year-old from Griffin, Georgia, made 30 tackles (27 solo, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, three interceptions, and six pass breakups in ten games for the Generals in 2023. The Generals signed Daniel as a free agent on June 14, 2022. In 2022, Daniel played one game for the Generals.

Before New Jersey, Daniel signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2021, but was released on August 17, 2021. Then, he signed with the New England Patriots and was placed on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Daniel played two seasons at Georgia Military College (2017-18) with 36 tackles (32 solo, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, five interceptions for 38 yards, 12 pass breakups, and five blocked kicks in 19 games for the Bulldogs. He helped lead Georgia Military’s defense allowing 159.6 passing yards per game and 16.8 points per game.

Then, he transferred to Georgia (2019-20) with 51 tackles (44 solo, 7 assists), three tackles for loss, and nine pass breakups in 21 games for the Bulldogs. 

Chris Orr- Birmingham Stallions

Chris Orr is six foot and weighs 227 pounds. The 26-year-old from DeSoto, Texas, had 81 tackles (43 solo, 38 assists), seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and two pass breakups in nine games for the Generals in 2023. He was named to the All-USFL Team. The Generals drafted Orr in the 21st round (173rd pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.

In his first season, Orr had 65 tackles (35 solo, 30 assists), three tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in nine games. Before New Jersey, Orr signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent and played three games in 2020.

Collegiately, Orr played five seasons at Wisconsin (2015-19) with 187 tackles (100 solo, 87 assists), 20 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, two interceptions for 78 yards, one touchdown, ten pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 50 games for the Badgers. He was named Second Team All-Big 10 in 2019.

Shalom Luani- Michigan Panthers

Shalom Luani is six feet and weighs 201 pounds. The 29-year-old from Pago Pago, American Samoa, made 44 tackles (30 solo, 14 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception, and one pass breakup in nine games for the Generals in 2023.

The Generals drafted Luani in the 18th round (142nd pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In his first season, Luani made 31 tackles (24 solo, 7 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, five interceptions, and nine pass breakups in eight games in 2022.

Before New Jersey, Luani played soccer in the ASFA Soccer League’s Tafuna Jets. The Oakland Raiders drafted Luani in the seventh round (221st pick) in the 2017 NFL Draft, which made him the first American Samoa-born player to be drafted by the organization.

He made 18 tackles for the Raiders in his rookie season. He played 31 career games in the NFL. In addition, he would later spend time with the Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Chargers. In 2021, he played for the Jousters (TSL).

Collegiately, Luani played two seasons at City College of San Francisco (2013-14) with 118 tackles (84 solo, 34 assists), one sack, 11 interceptions for 387 yards, and three touchdowns in 24 games for the Rams. He helped the Rams appear in the 2014 State Title game.

In addition, he was named First Team All-American, California Community College Defensive Player of the Year, Region I First Team All-California, and Region I Defensive Player of the Year

Then, Luani transferred to Washington State (2015-16) with 148 tackles (111 solo, 37 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions for 199 yards, one touchdown, 20 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Cougars. He was named First Team All-Pac 12 in 2016.

Hercules Mata’afa- Birmingham Stallions

Hercules Mata’afa is six foot two and weighs 252 pounds. The 28-year-old from Lahaina, Hawaii, made 25 tackles (16 solo, 9 assists), six tackles for loss, six sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one pass breakup in ten games for the Generals in 2023.

The Generals signed Mata’afa as a free agent on May 18, 2022, and placed him on the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster on June 1, 2022. Mata’afa made three tackles (2 solo, 1 assist) in four games for the Generals. In the playoffs against the Philadelphia Stars, Mata’afa made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist), one tackle for loss, and one sack.

Before New Jersey, Mata’afa signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played 19 games for the Vikings, making one start with 25 tackles (13 solo, 12 assists), four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble. After Minnesota, he spent time with the Washington Football Team and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Collegiately, Mata’afa played three seasons at Washington State (2015-17) with 86 tackles (64 solo, 22 assists), 33 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 28 games for the Cougars.

He was named First Team All-Pac 12 in 2017, Second Team All-Pac 12 in 2016, Pac-12 Defensive Player of The Year in 2017, All-American in 2017, and Polynesian Football Player of the Year in 2017.

Ethan Westbrooks- Houston Roughnecks

Ethan Westbrooks is six foot four and weighs 287 pounds. The 32-year-old from Oakland, California, made 13 tackles (9 solo, 4 assists), two tackles for loss, and two sacks in nine games for Michigan Panthers in 2023. He was named USFL Sportsman of the Year.

The Pittsburgh Maulers drafted Westbrooks in the first round (282nd pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. However, the Maulers released him and Westbrooks signed with the Panthers. Westbrooks made six tackles (3 solo, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup in three games for the Panthers in 2022.

Before Michigan, Westbrooks signed with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He played five seasons for the Rams with 79 tackles (53 solo, 26 assists), 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and three pass breakups in 67 games. Westbrooks would later spend time with the New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers.

Collegiately, Westbrooks played one season at San Joaquin Delta College in 2010 with 12 sacks. Next, he transferred to Sacramento City College (2011-12). He earned All-league honors All-conference accolades, and All-State in 2011.

Then, Westbrooks transferred to West Texas A&M in 2013 with 36 tackles (20 solo, 16 assists), 14 tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 11 games for the Buffaloes.

Darius Victor- Memphis Showboats

Darius Victor is five foot eight and weighs 209 yards. The 29-year-old from Liberia had 100 carries for 554 yards, four touchdowns, 26 catches for 189 yards, four touchdowns, and one kick return for 16 yards in ten games for the Generals in 2023. The Generals drafted Victor in the sixth round (327th pick) in the 2023 USFL Supplemental Draft.

Darius Victor made an instant impact for the Generals in 2022 with 127 carries for 577 yards, nine touchdowns, 15 catches for 113 yards, one touchdown, and two kick returns for 63 yards in ten games. He led the USFL in rushing touchdowns that season.

The Generals finished 9-1 that season but were eliminated in the North Division championship game against the Philadelphia Stars in Canton, Ohio. Victor was named USFL Offensive Player of the Year and All-USFL Team in 2022.

Before New Jersey, Victor signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He later signed with the Arizona Cardinals and was placed on the practice squad. Then, he signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2019 but was released.

In 2020, the New York Guardians (XFL) drafted him in the ninth round (67th pick) in the 2020 XFL Draft. He played five games, making one start with 55 carries for 238 yards, and six catches for 36 games before the league suspended operations due to COVID-19.

Collegiately, Victor played four seasons at Towson University (2013-16) with 637 carries for 3,309 yards, 41 touchdowns, 20 catches for 141 yards, and one touchdown in 41 games, of which 27 were starts for the Tigers.

Brock Miller- Michigan Panthers

Brock Miller is six foot and weighs 195 pounds. The 32-year-old from San Diego, California, had 36 punts for 1,551 yards (43.1 AVG) with a long of 78 yards, and one touchback in ten games for the New Jersey Generals in 2023.

The Generals drafted Miller in the fifth round (314th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. In 2022, Miller punted the ball 31 times for 1,434 yards (46.3 AVG), with a long of 85 yards, three touchbacks, and eight fair catches in ten games for the Generals in 2022. After the season, Miller returned to the Los Angeles Rams

Before New Jersey, Miller signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He also had stints with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams. In 2020, he played for the Seattle Dragons (XFL) with 23 punts for 969 yards (42.1 AVG) with a long of 79 yards in five games before the league shut down due to COVID-19.

Collegiately, Miller played five seasons at Southern Utah (2009-13). In 2012, Miller punted 67 times for 2,896 yards (43.3 AVG) which ranked 11th in the FCS and is the fourth-best average in SUU history. He had a long of 72 yards, with eight touchbacks, 19 fair catches, and 25 from inside the 20-yard line. In 2013, Miller had 79 punts for 3,432 yards (43.4%) in 13 games for the Thunderbirds.

Jordan Ober- Michigan Panthers

Jordan Ober is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 27-year-old from Las Vegas, Nevada, played ten games for the Generals in 2023. The Generals signed Ober as a free agent on February 11, 2023. Collegiately, Ober played four seasons at Nebraska (2015-18) playing 48 games for the Cornhuskers. He was named Third Team All-Big 10 by Phil Steele in 2017.

Braedon Bowman- Houston Roughnecks

Braedon Bowman is six foot four and weighs 235 pounds. The 29-year-old from Mesa, Arizona, had 19 catches for 210 yards, and one touchdown in ten games for the Generals in 2023. The Generals drafted Bowman in the 34th round (271st pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In his first season, Bowman caught 12 passes for 122 yards, and one touchdown in eight games before a quad injury took him out for the season.

Before New Jersey, Bowman signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent. He also had stints with the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Chargers. In 2019, he played for the Birmingham Iron (AAF) with four catches for 43 yards and one touchdown in three games.

Collegiately, Bowman played two seasons at Scottsdale Community College (2012-13) with 90 catches for 1,347 yards, 13 touchdowns, and one kick return for four yards in 18 games for the Artichokes.

He was named First Team National Junior College Athletic Association All-American in 2013, First Team All-Western States Football League, and First Team All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference. Then, he transferred to South Alabama (2014-15) with 29 catches for 381 yards in 23 games for the Jaguars.

Woody Brandom- Houston Roughnecks

Woody Brandom is six foot five and weighs 260 pounds. The 27-year-old from Corona, California, had four catches for 50 yards in ten games, of which six were starts for the Generals in 2023. The Generals drafted Brandom in the 34th round (271st pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.

In his first season, Brandom had 11 catches for 129 yards in ten games, of which nine were starts. Before the Generals, Brandom played for the Aviators (TSL) with seven catches for 91 yards and one touchdown.

Collegiately, Brandom played one season at Montana State in 2016 as a defensive lineman with 14 tackles (6 solo, 8 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in eight games for the Bobcats. Then, he transferred to Riverside Community College in 2017 with eight catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns in nine games for the Tigers.

After Riverside, Brandom transferred to Sam Houston State (2018-19) with 37 catches for 419 yards, and one touchdown in 23 games for the Bearkats. In his final season, Brandom had 24 catches for 314 yards and one touchdown in 12 games.

Kolin Hill- Memphis Showboats

Kolin Hill is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 27-year-old from Schertz, Texas, made 37 tackles (24 solo, 13 assists), six tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups in ten games for the Generals in 2023.

The Generals drafted Hill in the third round (20th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. Hill had 25 tackles (19 solo, 6 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and two pass breakups in ten games.

Before New Jersey, Hill played for the Berlin Thunder (ELF) in 2021 with 20 tackles, 11 sacks, five forced fumbles, and one touchdown in ten games.

Collegiately, Hill played one season at Notre Dame in 2014 with seven tackles (3 solo, 4 assists), and 2.5 tackles for loss in nine games for the Fighting Irish. Then, he transferred to Texas Tech (2016-18) with 112 tackles (75 solo, 37 assists), 17 tackles for loss, eight sacks, eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 37 games for the Red Raiders. He was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in 2017.

Isaiah Battle- Houston Roughnecks

Isaiah Battle is six foot seven and weighs 310 pounds. The 30-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, played five games, of which four were starts at tackle for the Generals in 2023. The Pittsburgh Maulers drafted Battle in the sixth round (50th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. He did not play for the Maulers in 2022.

Before New Jersey, Battle was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Supplemental Draft. He never played a game for the Rams. He later had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, and Carolina Panthers. In 2020, he played two games for the Seattle Dragons (XFL). Collegiately, Battle played three seasons at Clemson (2012-14), playing 27 games, of which 15 were starts for the Tigers.

Tyshun Render- Memphis Showboats

Tyshun Render is six foot three and weighs 255 pounds. The 26-year-old from Newnan, Georgia, made 14 tackles (8 solo, 6 assists), four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups in six games for the Generals in 2023.

The Generals drafted Render in the first round (285th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. Render made 28 tackles (12 solo, 16 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and three pass breakups in ten games for the Generals in 2022. In the playoffs, he made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist).

Before New Jersey, Render signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He spent two seasons with Miami playing one regular season game.

Collegiately, Render played four seasons at Middle Tennessee State (2016-19) with 119 tackles (71 solo, 48 assists), 19.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one interception, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 51 games for the Blue Raiders.

Bryson Young- Houston Roughnecks

Bryson Young is six foot five and weighs 250 pounds. The 25-year-old from Clovis, California, made 29 tackles (21 solo, 8 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in ten games for the Generals in 2023.

The Generals drafted Young in the second round (13th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 19 tackles (8 solo, 11 assists), three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in ten games for the Generals in 2022.

Before New Jersey, Young signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He later signed with the Arizona Cardinals but was released on August 30, 2021.

Collegiately, Young played four seasons at the University of Oregon (2016-19) with 73 tackles (30 solo, 43 assists), six tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 49 games for the Ducks.
