The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Devon Williams and defensive back Shabari Davis Jr. on Monday.
Devon Williams is six foot five and weighs 211 pounds. The 23-year-old from Lancaster, California, signed with the Philadelphia Stars on February 23, 2023, but never played a game for them. Before Philadelphia, Williams signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He played one preseason game against the Tennessee Titans with one catch for eight yards.
Collegiately, Williams played two seasons at USC (2018-19) with five catches for 98 yards, one touchdown, and returned a blocked punt for five yards for a touchdown in 13 games for the Trojans. In addition, he caught three passes for 77 yards and a touchdown against Oregon State.
Then, Williams transferred to Oregon (2020-21) with 50 catches for 843 yards and six touchdowns in 18 games for the Ducks. In his final season at Oregon, Williams led the Ducks with 557 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 35 receptions in 14 games.
Shabari Davis Jr. is six foot and weighs 193 pounds. The 26-year-old from Garden City, Georgia, was drafted by the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) and appeared in one game against the Vegas Vipers in 2023 but recorded no stats.
Before Seattle, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Davis Jr. as an undrafted free agent in 2022. Davis Jr. made two tackles (2 solo) in two preseason games for the Jaguars in 2022.
Collegiately, Davis Jr. played five seasons at Southeast Missouri State (2017-21) with 98 tackles (75 solo, 23 assists), three tackles for loss, eight interceptions for 132 yards, one touchdown, 33 pass breakups, one forced fumble, 15 kick returns for 379 yards, one touchdown, 38 punt returns for 403 yards, and one touchdown in 52 games for the Redhawks. He was named Second Team All-OVC in 2020 as a punt returner.
