Saskatchewan Roughriders restructure Trevor Harris’s contract

The Saskatchewan Roughriders restructured quarterback Trevor Harris’s contract on Monday. The new terms of the contract were not disclosed. Harris was scheduled to earn $525,000 in 2024, including a $250,000 active roster bonus due on February 1, 2024. Last season, he made $500,000 in Saskatchewan after playing for the Montreal Alouettes in 2022.

Trevor Harris is six foot three and weighs 212 pounds. The 37-year-old from Waldo, Ohio, completed 104 of 155 passes (67.1%) for 1,274 yards, six touchdowns, four interceptions, and nine carries for 94 yards in five games for the Roughriders in 2023 before suffering a fractured tibial plateau in his right knee against Calgary in Week 6 that ended his season. He signed a two-year contract with the Roughriders on February 14, 2023.

Before Saskatchewan, Harris signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2010. Then, he signed with the Arizona Rattlers (AFL) completing 25 of 37 passes (67.7%) for 272 yards, and seven touchdowns leading the Rattlers to the ArenaBowl. He also had stints with the Hartford Colonials (UFL), Buffalo Bills, and Orlando Predators.

In 2012, Harris signed with the Toronto Argonauts. He played four seasons in Toronto completing 441 of 632 passes (70%) for 5,059 yards, 36 touchdowns, 20 interceptions, 55 carries for 246 yards, and one touchdown in 28 games. He was a backup quarterback when the Argonauts won the Grey Cup in 2012.

In 2016, Harris signed with the Ottawa Redblacks. He played three seasons completing 1,071 of 1,517 passes (71%) for 13,096 yards, 68 touchdowns, 26 interceptions, 78 carries for 320 yards, and two touchdowns in 44 games. During his time in Ottawa, he won his second Grey Cup title in 2016 and led the CFL in passing touchdowns (33) in 2015.

In 2019, Harris signed with the Edmonton Eskimos (now Elks). He played a season and a half completing 478 of 670 passes (71.3%) for 5,595 yards, 22 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 66 carries for 201 yards, and six touchdowns in 19 games.

Edmonton traded Harris to the Montreal Alouettes on October 17, 2021. He played 22 games for the Alouettes completing 395 of 553 passes (71.4%) for 4,860 yards, 28 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and 29 carries for 211 yards.

Collegiately, Harris played four seasons at Edinboro University (2006-09) throwing 11,899 yards which is good for second all-time in the PSAC and ranking in the top ten all-time in Division II for the Fighting Scots. Harris totaled 100 career passing touchdowns, second in the PSAC, and set the PSAC record for completions (966).
