The Montreal Alouettes signed fullback Jacob Mason, offensive lineman Theo Grant, and defensive back Maxym Lavallée on Wednesday. All three of these players attended Montreal’s training camp in 2023.
Jacob Mason is six foot two and weighs 240 pounds. The 23-year-old from Burlington, Ontario, was selected in the fifth round (39th pick) in the 2023 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Mason played four seasons at McMaster (2018, 2021-23) with 18 carries for 134 yards, 21 catches for 170 yards, one touchdown, one kick return for ten yards, 18 tackles (15 solo, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble in 21 games for the Marauders.
Theo Grant is six foot four and weighs 280 pounds. The 23-year-old from Halifax, Nova Scotia, was selected in the fourth round (32nd pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Grant played 32 games in three seasons at Queen’s University (2019, 2021-23) playing right tackle for the Gaels. In 2022, he was part of an offensive line that finished second in the conference in rushing at 239.3 yards per game and fourth in the conference in passing at 227.3 yards per game.
In 2023, the Gaels’ offensive finished first in the nation in rushing yards with 242.3 per game. In addition, running back Jared Chisari led the nation in rushing yards (1,178).
Maxym Lavallée is five foot nine and weighs 185 pounds. The 25-year-old from Gatineau, Quebec, was selected in the eighth round (68th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2023, Lavallée made 30 tackles (20 solo, 10 assists) and two pass breakups in seven games for the Rouge Et Or.
Collegiately, Lavallee played five seasons at the University of Laval (2018-19, 2021-23) with 99 tackles (73 solo, 37 assists), 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 31 games for the Rouge Et Or. He was named to the RSEQ All-Star team in 2022.
