The Edmonton Elks signed defensive backs Cail Jackson Jr. and Chauncey Moore on Thursday.
Cail Jackson Jr. is five foot eleven and weighs 192 pounds. The 24-year-old from Midville, Georgia, played one season at Ventura College in 2021 with 22 tackles (19 solo, 3 assists), two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups in six games for the Pirates.
Then, Jackson Jr. transferred to Alabama State (2022-23) with 63 tackles (39 solo, 24 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, five interceptions for 89 yards, seven pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 22 games for the Hornets.
In 2023, Jackson Jr. made 37 tackles (27 solo, 10 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions for 58 yards, four pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 11 games. He was named Second Team All-SWAC in 2023 and played in the 3rd annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Pigskin Showdown.
Chauncey Moore is six foot and weighs 207 pounds. The 23-year-old from Washington, D.C., made 16 tackles (8 solo, 8 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception for 32 yards, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 11 games for the Hornets in 2023.
Collegiately, Moore played three seasons at Temple (2019-21) with 11 tackles (10 solo, 1 assist) in 29 games for the Owls. Then, Moore transferred to Alabama State (2022-23) with 49 tackles (23 solo, 26 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 40 yards, five pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 21 games for the Hornets.
