The Ottawa Redblacks re-signed defensive lineman Nigel Romick to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Thursday.

Nigel Romick is six foot five and weighs 241 pounds. The 32-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ontario, made two tackles and eight tackles on special teams in 16 games for the Redblacks in 2023 The Redblacks drafted Romick in the third round (23rd pick) in the 2014 CFL Draft.

In seven seasons in Ottawa, Romick has 15 tackles, 86 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 89 games. He helped the Redblacks win the 2016 Grey Cup championship over the Calgary Stampeders.

Collegiately, Romick played three seasons at St. Mary’s University (2011-13) with 62.5 tackles (47 tackles, 31 assists), 11 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and one forced fumble in 24 games for the Huskies.
