Reading Royals shut out Maine to start homestand

The Reading Royals (14-15-1-1) returned to the Santander Arena to start a three-game series with the Maine Mariners (12-14-5) on Friday night.

In the first period, the Royals had 13 shots on goal but the game remained scoreless. Three minutes and fifty-five seconds into the second period, Reading’s Tyson Fawcett put the Royals up 1-0 with assists by Shane Sellar and Will Zmolek.

The Royals had 14 shots on goal and led 1-0 after two periods of play. In the third period, Reading had seven shots on goal on their way to shutting out the Maine Mariners by the final score of 1-0.

The Royals had 34 shots on goal, committed four penalties for eight minutes, went 0 for 2 on the power play, and Parker Gahagen stopped all 40 shots.
