The Michigan Panthers signed TE Nick Guggemos and defensive back Jamal Perry for the 2024 season on Friday.
Nick Guggemos is six foot five and weighs 231 pounds. The 28-year-old from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, attended the Buffalo Bills training camp in 2023 but did not play in the preseason. Before Buffalo, Guggemos signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He also spent time with the Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and Green Bay Packers.
Collegiately, Guggemos played five seasons at St. Thomas University (2014-18) with one catch for eight yards in one game for the Tommies.
Jamal Perry is five foot ten and weighs 182 pounds. The 29-year-old from Galena Park, Texas, made four tackles (4 solo) in two preseason games for the Miami Dolphins in 2023. The Dolphins signed him as a free agent in 2023.
Perry played three seasons in Miami with 72 tackles (47 solo, 25 assists), one interception, and seven pass breakups in 31 games. Before Miami, Perry signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He also spent time with the New England Patriots.
Collegiately, Perry played two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College (2013-14) with 124 tackles (83 solo, 41 assists), two interceptions for 86 yards, and one touchdown in 24 games for the Cardinals. He was named First Team All-SWJCFC in 2014.
Then, he transferred to Iowa State (2015-16) with 90 tackles (60 solo, 30 assists), two tackles for loss, half a sack, two interceptions for 27 yards, 19 pass breakups, and 12 kick returns for 271 yards in 24 games for the Cyclones. In addition, he competed in track and field at Iowa State.
