Ryan Chyzowski has a two-point night leading the Royals to victory

Ryan Chyzowski has a two-point night against Maine on Saturday night.

The Reading Royals (16-17-1-1) continued their three-game series on Saturday night against the Maine Mariners (14-16-5) from the Cross Insurance Arena.

Thirty-three seconds into the first period, Reading’s Tag Bertuzzi put the Royals up 1-0 with an assist by Matt Brown. Then at 15:31, Reading’s Yvan Mongo scored a breakaway goal extending the Royals lead to 2-0. The Royals had eight shots on goal and led 2-0 after one period of play.

A minute and thirty-eight seconds into the second period, Reading’s Devon Paliani extended the Royals lead to 3-0 on the power play with assists by Adam Brubacher and Ryan Chyzowski.

At 3:29, Maine’s Cameron Askew scored a power play goal that cut the Royals lead down to 3-1 with assists by Alex Kile and Gabriel Chicoine. The Royals had six shots on goal to lead 3-1 after two periods of play.

Four minutes into the third period, Reading’s Ryan Chyzowski got the goal back to make it 4-1 Royals with an assist by Joseph Nardi. Then at 17:17, Reading’s Shane Sellar put the game away with an empty net goal for a 5-1 win over the Maine Mariners.

The Royals had 24 shots on goal, committed two penalties, went 1 for 2 on the power play, and Parker Gahagen made 31 saves off 32 shots.
