Montreal Alouettes sign six players including RB Charles McClelland

The Montreal Alouettes signed running back Charles McClelland, wide receiver Jalen Wayne, defensive linemen Ifeanyi Maijeh and Jacorey Johns, and defensive backs Ferlando Jordan, and Nigel Warrior.

Charles McClelland is five foot eleven and weighs 193 pounds. The 24-year-old from Homerville, Georgia, signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2023 but was released before the preseason started.

Collegiately, McClelland played five seasons at Cincinnati (2018-22) with 268 carries for 1,639 yards, 12 touchdowns, 30 catches for 273 yards, one touchdown, and nine kick returns for 108 yards in 42 games for the Bearcats.

Jalen Wayne is six foot one and weighs 212 pounds. The 24-year-old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was targeted three times recording no stats in three preseason games for the Cleveland Browns in 2023. The Browns signed Wayne as a free agent in 2023. Before Cleveland, the Buffalo Bills signed Wayne as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Collegiately, Wayne played six seasons at South Alabama (2017-22) with 152 catches for 1,978 yards, 14 touchdowns, four carries for 33 yards, and five punt returns for 38 yards in 61 games for the Jaguars. He was an All-Sun Belt Conference Honorable Mention in 2022.

Ifeanyi Maijeh is six foot two and weighs 290 pounds. The 24-year-old from Far Rockaway, New York, signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Collegiately, Maijeh played three seasons at Temple University (2018-20) with 74 tackles (47 solo, 27 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 27 games for the Owls. He was named First All-AAC in 2019. Then, he transferred to Rutgers (2021-22) with 60 tackles (17 solo, 43 assists), six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt in 25 games for the Scarlet Knights.

Jacorey Johns is six foot four and weighs 256 pounds. The 23-year-old from Cartersville, Georgia, made two tackles (2 assists) and half a sack in one game for the New Orleans Breakers (USFL) in 2023. The Breakers signed Johns as a free agent in 2023. Before New Orleans, he attended the Detroit Lions rookie minicamp in 2023.

Collegiately, Johns played four seasons at Wake Forest (2019-22) with 131 tackles (64 solo, 67 assists), 21.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 43 games for the Demon Deacons. He helped Wake Forest win the Gasparilla Bowl in 2022.

Ferlando Jordan is five foot eleven and weighs 186 pounds. The 23-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) and one fumble recovery in four games for the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) in 2023.

In the playoffs, Jordan made two tackles (2 solo) in two playoff games. The Maulers drafted Jordan in the fourth round (25th pick) of the 2023 USFL Draft. Before Pittsburgh, Jordan attended the Atlanta Falcons rookie minicamp in 2023.

Collegiately, Jordan played five seasons at Southeastern Louisiana (2018-22) with 137 tackles (97 solo, 40 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, ten interceptions 335 yards, one touchdown, 38 pass breakups, one forced fumble, three blocked punts, and five kick returns for 69 games for the Lions. He was a two-time First Team All-Southland Conference.

Nigel Warrior is six foot one and weighs 197 pounds. The 26-year-old from College Park, Georgia, made eight tackles (7 solo, 1 assist) in three preseason games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. The Ravens signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent the season on the practice squad. After Baltimore, Warrior signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Collegiately, Warrior played four seasons at Tennessee (2016-19) with 239 tackles (142 solo, 97 assists), seven tackles for loss, one sack, five interceptions for 172 yards, one touchdown, 18 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one blocked punt, and three kick returns for 71 yards in 49 games for the Volunteers. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2016 and was named Second Team All-SEC by the coaches in 2019.
