Lehigh Valley Phantoms trade Forward Jordy Bellerive to San Jose

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced on Tuesday they have traded forward Jordy Bellerive to the San Jose Barracuda for future considerations.

Jordy Bellerive is five foot ten and weighs 194 pounds. The 24-year-old from North Vancouver, British Columbia, had four points (3 goals, 1 assist), and 40 penalty minutes in 28 games for the Phantoms this season. In the 2022-23 season, Bellerive earned 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists), and 55 penalty minutes in 61 games for the Phantoms last year. In addition, he played three playoff games.

Before Lehigh Valley, Bellerive played four seasons for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins earning 69 points (30 goals, 39 assists), and 202 penalty minutes in 157 games. In addition, Bellerive earned one assist in six playoff games for the Penguins.

Bellerive played four seasons for the Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL) earning 267 points (117 goals, 150 assists), and 302 penalty minutes in 274 games. In addition, Bellerive collected 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists), and 54 penalty minutes in 45 playoff games. In 2018, Bellerive was selected to the WHL East Second All-Star Team.

In other moves, the Philadelphia Flyers recalled goaltender Cal Peterson from Lehigh Valley, Lehigh Valley recalled goaltender Parker Gahagen from Reading, and defensemen Adam Karashik and Mason Millman were loaned to the Reading Royals (ECHL).

Cal Peterson is six foot two and weighs 188 pounds. The 29-year-old from Waterloo, Iowa, is 5-8-2, with a 3.26 GAA, and a .890 save percentage in 15 games this season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In Philadelphia, Peterson is 1-0 with a 3.50 GAA and a .896 SV% in two games.

The Flyers acquired Peterson in a three-team trade with the Los Angeles Kings that sent defenseman Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets on June 6, 2023.

Peterson played 40 games for the Ontario Reign with a 16-20-4 record, 2.88 GAA, .904 SV%, and two shutouts. In the playoffs, Peterson went 0-2 with a 3.90 GAA and a .826 SV%. The Buffalo Sabres drafted Peterson in the fifth round (129th pick) in the 2013 NHL Draft. He also played ten games for the Kings in the 2022-23 season with a 5-3-2 record, 3.75 GAA, and a .868 SV%.

Peterson played three seasons for the Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL) with a 48-19-1 record, a 2.74 GAA, a .910 SV%, and five shutouts in 78 games. In the playoffs, he went 10-6 with a 2.78 GAA and a .917 SV% in 16 games.

Then, he played three seasons at the University of Notre Dame (2014-16) with a 55-39-15 record, a 2.30 GAA, and a .924 SV% in 110 games for the Fighting Irish.

Peterson played four seasons in the AHL with a 69-68-17 record, a 3.20 GAA, a .904 SV%, and nine shutouts in 156 games. In the playoffs, he is 1-5, with a 2.85 GAA, and a .891 SVG%. In the NHL, Peterson played six seasons with a record of 44-42-10, a 2.92 GAA, a .905 SV%, and four shutouts in 101 games. In the playoffs, Peterson is 0-0 with a 7.50 GAA and a .800 SV% in one game.

Parker Gahagen is six foot two and weighs 194 pounds. The 30-year-old from Amherst, New York, is 4-3-2 this season for Lehigh Valley with a 2.63 GAA, and a .909 SV% in nine games. In Reading, Gahagen is 7-3 with a 2.20 GAA and a .935 SV% in ten games.

Before Lehigh Valley, Gahagen played for the Jacksonville Icemen last season with an 18-8-1 record, a 2.66 GAA, and a .912 save percentage in 33 games. In addition, Gahagen was 2-2, with a 3.18 GAA, and a .891 save percentage in four ECHL playoff games.

Gahagen has played five ECHL seasons with the Jacksonville Icemen, Colorado Eagles, Newfoundland Growlers, Utah Grizzlies, and Florida Everblades with a 58-26-5 record, a 2.30 GAA, and a .920 save percentage in 100 games.

In addition, he is 3-5-1, with a 3.17 GAA, and a .885 save percentage in nine playoff games. He is a member of the 2021-22 Florida Everblades Kelly Cup Championship team.

Gahagen also played one season in the SPHL for the Evansville Thunderbolts with a 3-2 record, a 2.63 GAA, and a .919 save percentage in six games.

In the AHL, Gahagen has played five seasons for the San Jose Barracuda, Toronto Marlies, Colorado Eagles, Milwaukee Admirals, and Hartford Wolf Pack with a 5-4 record, a 3.34 GAA, and a .885 save percentage in 12 games.

Collegiately, Gahagen played four seasons at Army (2013-16) with a 41-49-16 record, a 2.40 GAA, and a .926 save percentage in 110 games for the Black Knights. He is a two-time Second Team AHA All-Conference.

Adam Karashik is six foot and weighs 201 pounds. The 26-year-old from Ridgefield, Connecticut, has two points (2 assists) in 12 games for the Phantoms this season. In addition, Karashik played one game for the Reading Royals.

Last season, Karashik had three assists in 23 games for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and two points (1 goal, 1 assist) in five games for the Reading Royals last season. The Phantoms signed Karashik as a free agent on April 1, 2022.

Before Lehigh Valley, Karashik played two seasons with the Chicago Steel (USHL) with nine points (2 goals, 7 assists), and nine penalty minutes in 60 games. In addition, he had one assist in ten playoff games helping Chicago win its first Clark Cup over the Sioux City Musketeers 2-1 in overtime, winning the series three games to two.

Collegiately, Karashik played four seasons at the University of Connecticut (2017-20) with 24 points (5 goals, 19 assists), and 99 penalty minutes in 119 games for the Huskies. In his last two seasons at Connecticut, he was an alternate captain in 2019-20, and captain in the 2020-21 season.

Then, he transferred to the University of Notre Dame in the 2021-22 season with 16 points (1 goal, 15 assists), and 26 penalty minutes in 40 games for the Fighting Irish. He was the captain of Notre Dame during the season. Karashik was named to the NCAA Albany All-Regional Team.

Mason Millman is six foot one and weighs 176 pounds. The 22-year-old from London, Ontario, has four points (4 assists) and six penalty minutes in 12 games for the Phantoms this season. In Reading, Millman has seven points (1 goal, 6 assists), six penalty minutes, and one power play goal in 14 games.

Last season, Millman played one game for the Phantoms with no stats. In Reading, he earned 45 points (8 goals, 37 assists), and 37 penalty minutes in 63 games. In the playoffs, Millman had seven points (1 goal, 6 assists), and 12 penalty minutes.

In four seasons in Lehigh Valley, Millman has eight points (8 assists) and 22 penalty minutes in 38 games. For the Reading Royals, Millman is in his fifth season with 77 points (17 goals, 60 assists), 59 penalty minutes, one power play goal, and four game-winning goals in 113 games.

Before Reading, Millman played three seasons for the Saginaw Spirit (OHL) with 69 points (16 goals, 53 assists), and 101 penalty minutes in 130 games. In the playoffs, Millman earned five points (2 goals, 3 assists), and eight penalty minutes in 13 games.
