Ottawa Redblacks and DL Bryce Carter agree to a one-year contract extension

The Ottawa Redblacks re-signed defensive lineman Bryce Carter to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Tuesday.

Bryce Carter is six foot one and weighs 252 pounds. The 25-year-old from Steelton, Pennsylvania, made 31 tackles, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 18 games on his way to being named a CFL East All-Star in 2023. The Redblacks signed Carter as a free agent on May 21, 2022. In 2022, Carter made ten tackles and two sacks in seven games.

Collegiately, Carter played three seasons at Towson University (2017-19) with 145 tackles (80 solo, 65 assists), 22 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and four forced fumbles in 35 games for the Tigers. Then, he transferred to James Madison in 2021 with 53 tackles (27 solo, 26 assists), 21 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 14 games for the Dukes. He was named First Team All-CAA as a defensive lineman in 2021.
