The Calgary Stampeders signed wide receivers Ishmael Hyman and Malachi Wideman on Wednesday.

Ishmael Hyman is six foot and weighs 196 pounds. The 28-year-old from Manalapan Township, New Jersey, played for the Michigan Panthers and Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL in 2023 with 15 catches for 152 yards, two carries for eight yards, and six punt returns for 92 yards in eight games.

Before Pittsburgh, Hyman played five games for the Orlando Apollos (AAF) in 2019 making four catches for 60 yards before the league folded after eight weeks of play. Next, he would have stints with the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers.

On May 10, 2022, Hyman signed with the Michigan Panthers (USFL) making 15 catches for 158 yards, two touchdowns, and seven punt returns for 78 yards in four games. After Michigan, he spent time with the Green Bay Packers.

Collegiately, Hyman was a redshirt freshman at Kansas in 2013. Then, he transferred to James Madison (2014-17) making 72 catches for 1,061 yards, 11 touchdowns, one carry for 17 yards, and three kick returns for 52 yards in 48 games for the Dukes.

Malachi Wideman is six foot five and weighs 190 pounds. The 22-year-old from Sarasota, Florida, had signed with the San Antonio Brahmas (XFL) before the XFL and USFL merged to become the United Football League (UFL).

Collegiately, Wideman played one season at Tennessee in 2020 making one catch for 24 yards in six games for the Volunteers. Then, he transferred to Jackson State University (2021-22) making 37 catches for 589 yards, and 13 touchdowns in 17 games for the Tigers. In 2021, he tied for the SWAC lead in touchdown receptions (12).
