Ottawa Redblacks sign three players including LB Kaleb Oliver

The Ottawa Redblacks signed linebacker Kaleb Oliver and defensive backs Adrian Frye and Bralen Trahan on Wednesday.

Kaleb Oliver is six foot four and weighs 215 pounds. The 25-year-old from La Vergne, Tennessee, was drafted by the D.C. Defenders (XFL) in 2023 before the XFL merged with the USFL to create the United Football League (UFL).

Collegiately, Oliver played three seasons at Georgia Tech (2018-20) with 92 tackles (52 solo, 40 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 23 yards, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 33 games for the Yellow Jackets.

Then, he transferred to Western Kentucky (2021-22) with 95 tackles (58 solo, 37 assists), four tackles for loss, two sacks, four interceptions for 72 yards, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 28 games for the Hilltoppers. He was named an All-C-USA Honorable Mention in 2022.

Adrian Frye is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from Houston, Texas, made six tackles (5 solo, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games for the New Orleans Saints in 2023. The Saints signed Frye as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Collegiately, Frye played five seasons at Texas Tech (2018-22) with 101 tackles (76 solo, 25 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 55 yards, one touchdown, 26 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one blocked punt, and 28 punt returns for 146 yards in 51 games for the Red Raiders. He was named First Team All-Big 12, and Freshman All-American in 2018.

Bralen Trahan is five foot eleven and weighs 196 pounds. The 25-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, made eight tackles (3 solo, 5 assists), one interception for ten yards, and one pass breakup in three preseason games for the Chicago Bears in 2023. The Bears signed Trahan as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Collegiately, Trahan played six seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette (2017-22) with 213 tackles (114 solo, 99 assists), six tackles for loss, 13 interceptions for 323 yards, one touchdown, 29 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked punt in 67 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He was named First Team LSWA in 2020, and named Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference.
