The Reading Royals signed goaltender Ryan Kenny to a Standard Player Contract (SPC) on Tuesday. This move comes after the Philadelphia Flyers granted goaltender Carter Hart an indefinite leave of absence which led to the Flyers recalling goaltender Cal Peterson from Lehigh Valley, and the Phantoms recalled goaltender Parker Gahagen from the Reading Royals.
Ryan Kenny is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 24-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, was playing for the Fayetteville Marksmen (SPHL) with a 14-3-2 record, a 2.11 GAA, a .940 SV%, and one shutout this season. The Royals signed Kenny on March 1, 2023, and went 0-1-1, with a 5.06 GAA, and a .811 SV% in two games.
Before Reading, Kenny wrapped up his collegiate career at Stevenson University with a 13-8-1 record, a 2.23 GAA, and a .924 SV% in 22 games for the Mustangs in 2022. In addition, Kenny won the Universiade Silver Medal for Team USA in 2022 after going 3-1, a 2.98 GAA, and a .904 SV% in four games.
Collegiately, Kenny played four seasons at Stevenson University (2019-22) with a 56-23-5 record, a 2.43 GAA, and a .917 SV% in 84 games for the Mustangs.
