The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive back Mark McLaurin on Wednesday.
Mark McLaurin is six foot two and weighs 215 pounds. The 26-year-old from Collins, Mississippi, made 41 tackles, two tackles on special teams, and one forced fumble in 11 games for the Edmonton Elks in 2023. The Elks signed McLaurin as a free agent on August 16, 2022. He played two games in 2022 with seven tackles, five tackles on special teams, and one interception. The Elks released him on October 17, 2023.
Before Edmonton, McLaurin signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2019 but broke his foot and was placed on injured reserve. The Giants released him in 2020. In 2021, he played for the Aviators (TSL).
Collegiately, McLaurin played four seasons at Mississippi State (2015-18) with 221 tackles (114 solo, 107 assists), 10 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, eight interceptions for 112 yards, 25 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 51 games for the Bulldogs.
In the 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl against Louisville, McLaurin had eleven tackles and three interceptions and was named MVP. In addition, McLaurin was named to the Associated Press All-Bowl Team.
