The Montreal Alouettes and offensive lineman Kristian Matte agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Thursday.

Kristian Matte is six foot four and weighs 296 pounds. The 38-year-old from St. Hubert, Quebec, started 18 games for the Alouettes in 2023. Montreal’s offense finished seventh in offensive points per game (20.6), fourth in touchdowns (43), sixth in average net offensive yards (329.7), fifth in average rushing yards (102.2), sixth in average passing yards (250.0), and eighth in sacks allowed (61) on their way to winning the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Alouettes drafted Matte in the first round (7th pick) of the 2010 CFL Draft. Matte has spent his entire 14-year career with the Alouettes playing 185 games currently tied for ninth in that category with kicker Don Sweet.

Matte is a two-time CFL East All-Star in 2019 and 2021. Before Montreal, Matte signed with the Houston Texans in 2010. Collegiately, Matte played four seasons at Concordia University (2006-09). He was named Second Team All-Canadian in 2009.
