The Edmonton Elks signed quarterback Malik Henry on Friday. Henry was one of the stars of Netflix’s hit “Last Chance U” in its third season.

Malik Henry is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from Inglewood, California, had initially signed with the Albany Firebirds (AFL) for the 2024 season.

In 2023, Henry completed 258 of 371 passes (70%) for 3,116 yards, 60 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 14 carries for 34 yards, and one touchdown in 14 games for the Carolina Cobras (NAL) leading them to win the NAL Championship.

In 2022, he spent time with both the Carolina Cobras (8 games) and the Jacksonville Sharks (4 games) completing 164 of 281 passes (58.3%) for 1,836 yards, 38 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 12 carries for 25 yards, and two touchdowns in 12 games.

Before Carolina, Henry played for the Frisco Fighters (IFL) in 2021 completing 76 of 140 passes (54%) for 778 yards, ten touchdowns, five interceptions, and 13 carries for 21 yards in seven games.

Collegiately, Henry started at Florida State in 2016 but did not play for the Seminoles. Next, he transferred to Independence Community College (2017-18) completing 151 of 288 passes (52.4%) for 1,620 yards, 11 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 20 carries for seven yards, and two touchdowns in 12 games for the Pirates.

Then, Henry transferred to Nevada in 2019 completing 42 of 78 passes (54%) for 593 yards, one touchdown, four interceptions, and 11 carries for seven yards in three games for the Wolf Pack.
