Over the weekend, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship kicked off the 2024 season from Daytona International Speedway for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Mazda MX-5 Cup Races 1 & 2
The Mazda MX-5 Cup kicked off the weekend at Daytona with Race 1 on Thursday won by Jared Thomas of JTR Motorsports Engineering and Nate Cicero won Race 2 for McCumbee McAleer Racing.
BMW Endurance Challenge at Daytona
The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race on Friday afternoon with the No. 91 Kellymoss with Riley Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS of Riley Dickinson, Michael McCarthy, and Brady Golan winning in the GS class, while the No. 17 JDC-Miller MotorSports Audi RS3 LMS TCR of Mikey Taylor and Chris Miller won in the TCR class.
Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race was on Saturday afternoon and continued throughout the night and into Sunday afternoon. Once the grueling 24-hour race was over, the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 of Felipe Nasr, Matt Campbell, Josef Newgarden, and Dane Cameron won in the GTP class.
Meanwhile, the No. 18 Era Motorsport Oreca LMP2 07 of Ryan Dalziel, Connor Zilisch, Christian Rasmussen, and Dwight Merriman won in the LMP2 class, the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3 of Daniel Serra, Davide Rigon, Alessandro Pier Guidi, and James Calado won in GTD Pro, and the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Philip Ellis, Indy Dontje, Daniel Morad, Russell Ward won in GTD
