B.C. Lions make several moves including re-signing LB Josh Woods

The B.C. Lions re-signed defensive lineman Tibo Debaillie to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season, along with linebacker Josh Woods to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Tuesday. In addition, the Lions signed defensive lineman Tipa Galeai, and defensive back Parnell Motley.

Tibo Debaillie is six foot two and weighs 285 pounds. The 26-year-old from Gistel, Belgium, made 14 tackles and one sack in 18 games for the Lions in 2023. The Lions signed Debaillie as a free agent in 2022. In 2022, Debaillie made 20 tackles and three sacks in 18 games. Before B.C., Debaillie played for the Ostend Pirates in 2016. Then, he signed with the Edmonton Elks in 2021 with one tackle in three games.

Collegiately, Debaillie played three seasons at Towson (2017-19) with 29 tackles (11 solo, 18 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 22 games for the Tigers.

Josh Woods is six foot two and weighs 234 pounds. The 26-year-old from Ontario, California, made 45 tackles, nine tackles on special teams, two interceptions, and one touchdown in 18 games for the Lions in 2023. The Lions signed Woods as a free agent in 2021. In three seasons, Woods has made 69 tackles, 21 tackles on special teams, two sacks, two interceptions, and one touchdown in 37 games.

Collegiately, Woods played five seasons at UCLA (2015-19) with 111 tackles (69 solo, 42 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception for six yards, two pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 32 games for the Bruins.

Tipa Galeai is six foot five and weighs 229 pounds. The 26-year-old from Euless, Texas, signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He played three seasons in Green Bay making 16 tackles (9 solo, 7 assists), one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack in 13 games.

Collegiately, Galeai played two seasons at TCU (2015-16) making 31 tackles (13 solo, 18 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 17 games for the Horned Frogs.

Then, he transferred to Utah State (2018-19) making 119 tackles (60 solo, 59 assists), 23 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, two interceptions for 56 yards, one touchdown, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt in 25 games for the Aggies. He was a two-time Second Team All-Mountain West.

Parnell Motley is six foot and weighs 180 pounds. The 26-year-old from Washington, D.C., was on the Lions practice squad in 2023. Before B.C., Motley attended training camp for the Toronto Argonauts in 2023 and later signed with the Montreal Alouettes.

Motley was drafted by the D.C. Defenders in the 12th round (4th pick) in the 2022 XFL Draft. After getting cut by the Defenders, he signed with the New Orleans Breakers on April 19th but was released the next day.

Motley signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He played two regular season games with eight tackles, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery before being released. In addition, he had brief stints with the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, and the Calgary Stampeders.

Collegiately, Motley played four seasons at Oklahoma (2016-19) with 176 tackles (130 solo, 46 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions for 94 yards, one touchdown, 39 pass breakups, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 53 games for the Sooners.

In his final season, Motley made 41 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception, 14 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 14 games. He was named First Team All-Big 12 by the media and Second Team by the coaches.
