The Toronto Argonauts re-signed linebacker Jonathan Jones to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Monday.

Jonathan Jones is five foot eleven and weighs 230 pounds. The 26-year-old from Ocoee, Florida, made 49 tackles, 13 tackles on special teams, seven sacks, and one interception in 18 games for the Argonauts in 2023.

The Argonauts signed Jones as a free agent on June 25, 2022. In 2022, Jones made ten tackles, five tackles on special teams, one sack, and two interceptions in six games for the Argonauts helping them win the Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Collegiately, Jones played three seasons at Notre Dame (2017-19) with 16 tackles (9 solo, 7 assists), and two tackles for loss in 35 games for the Fighting Irish. Then, he transferred to Toledo (2020-21) with 116 tackles (34 solo, 82 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 19 games for the Rockets. He was named Second Team All-MAC in 2021.
